Style Draft Peer Review; Grammar Practice with Grammar Girl.

Homework: Grammar Girl’s Quick and Dirty Tips Scroll to the bottom for the "Top 10 episodes." You can play the audio version (using play button at the top of each episode). Take handwritten notes.  At a minimum, you should number and title each basic rule, and provide at least one useful tip per episode.

 

Tone Quiz; practice timed writing. Annotate the passage and then look at the teacher's version: what did you miss? Write the essay, and discuss the rubric.

Homework: Finish Revisions of the Style Draft based on your peer reviews. Finish reading The Great Gatsby

Working AP essay prompts; timed writing practice. Read these Tips for analyzing prose passages.

Homework: Work on that rhetorical journal. It is due in exactly three weeks. If you need extra help, you can go to UK's Division of Classics to see a glossary of rhetorical terms with examples.

Optional but recommended: Print out a score tracker and keep up with your timed writing scores. Looking at Rodriguez's prompt and your essay responses; Horace quote essay prompt--sample student answers from College Board, analyzing the rubric; jigsaw--outline your own version of the essay.

Homework: (B2) Write the Horace essay, (B4) Work the Stravinsky passage, and construct an outline.

Optional but recommended: Print out the Rhetorical Devices Cheat Sheet Examples of Research Presentations; Wrapping up the canons of rhetoric with memory and delivery.

Homework: Begin your PowerPoints to show your research results to the class. Draw a name out of a hat--group 1 or group 2?
