Our classroom rules are basic guidelines for
cooperative behavior. Students are expected to be respectful and
responsible in their actions. I want each student to feel safe and
comfortable in the classroom. During the first few weeks of
school, we'll spend a significant amount of time practicing Southern
Elementary procedures and appropriate CHAMP behaviors.

Behavior Policy
The ticket system will be used as our behavior
plan in the classroom. In the case of misbehaviors, students will
pull tickets and receive the consequences listed below. Not
pulling any tickets will be rewarded with 2 green checks on the chart.
When a student fills the chart they are rewarded with treasure chest.
I will only mark the behavior section on the weekly report if a ticket
is pulled.
- GREEN…no tickets pulled/2 checks on chart
YELLOW…1 ticket pulled/has had 2 or more warnings, no checks on
the chart
ORANGE…2 tickets pulled/5 minutes off group physical
activity/note to family
RED…3 tickets pulled/10 minutes off group physical activity/not
to family
BLUE…4 tickets pulled/10 minutes off group physical
activity/note to family AND time out in
another room

Homework Policy
Homework will be assigned on Monday and/or
Tuesday. It will generally consist of phonics and vocabulary words, reading comprehension, and math practice. Students will
receive a weekly report at the beginning of each week. The weekly
report shows what we're learning in class, daily behavior, and any
reminders or school information. Students are also asked to read
for 10-20 minutes each night and record it on the log. A
parent/guardian should initial the bottom each night. Homework is
not due until Friday, but the folder and weekly report should be
returned each day. Our class participates in the Book-It reading incentives program and
Accelerated Reader to help encourage reading daily.
