Dear Parents of Level 1 and 2 orchestras,

Many of you have not responded to the uniform letter and even express shipping cannot get the uniforms to us in time now.  For this concert, I will ask that students wear solid black.  Gentlemen should try to find a black dress shirt and black tie.  I will go shopping this weekend and scope out places that have these.   If you cannot afford to get a black dress shirt at this time, let me know ASAP so I can arrange to get one for you.

Ladies should wear black pants and a black dress shirt as well.  If you have your long black dress from last year, please wear that, but if not, black pants are fine.  I do not want any skirts unless they are floor length.  As with the boys, if this will be a hardship. Let me know.

I still plan to order enough black dresses for all girls so that we can perform for assessment in uniform.  For boys, I have found a uniform that is more in line with the cost of the girl’s dresses.  Men will wear tux pants, a tux shirt and a vest and the cost will be 50 dollars.   If you have sent in 50 dollars already, you are all paid up.  For the many of you who have not responded yet, I assume that money is an issue.  We will be selling candy bars after winter break in an attempt to raise enough money to get uniforms for all of us in time for assessment.

OUR WINTER CONCERT is December 9th at 7 pm at UK’s Singletary Center.

Students should arrive at 6:00 pm.  Parking is terrible, so please consider car pooling with friends and neighbors if at all possible.   The choir performs first, then the orchestra, then the band.  Students should make every attempt to stay for the entire concert.

For those of your new to Dunbar, this winter festival featuring the entire music department is a tradition that dates back to the opening of the school.  We share the expense of renting Singletary center, which is a wonderful place to perform and we bring together all the talent of the music department.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Email is the fastest way.  Rebecca.goff@fayette.kyschools.us
