2009-2010 Schedule of Events

September 16^th - Barrage concert event at Transylvania University. 

October 5^th and 6^th  - Chamber music recitals at PLD.   All students will perform in a small chamber ensemble on one of these two days.

November 7^th - All State Orchestra Auditions at SCAPA

November 21- Solo and Ensemble Festival –location TBA students may choose to sign up to be judged at this optional event.

December 10, 7 pm- Winter Concert   This year we will not be able to do the large festival with the band and chorus because Singletary Center, the only place in Lexington large enough to hold us all, is completely booked for the month of December.  The festival will return next year.

January TBA- Dunbar Area Concert, a fun concert involving all elementary and middle school orchestra students in the Dunbar feeder pattern.  This concert is held in the gym and the date will be announced as soon as the Boys Basketball schedule becomes final.

February 3-6- All State Orchestra, students who are accepted to this state-wide honors orchestra will travel to Louisville to represent PLD.

March 9- Pre-Assessment concert, 7 pm, Dunbar auditorium.   Judges will be brought in to assess our progress as we prepare for our state performance assessment. 

March 15 and 16, State Performance Assessment during the school day at Singletary Center

April 8-11 Level 2 and 3 trip to St. Louis to see Gil Shaham perform the Prokofiev violin concerto with the St. Louis Symphony.

May 8^th level 1 and 2 optional competition trip to Kings Island

May 14- 7pm, Dunbar Gym.  Picnic on the Dawgwoods is a fun-filled evening of music and food featuring the entire music department of Paul Laurence Dunbar.

May 22^nd SATURDAY Senior send-off concert and party!
