1) You will be required to choose a topic, preferably social studies related, which interests you.

) You will be required to divide that specific topic into three separate sub topics for which you are required to complete a separate activity.
- Example: Music as a reflection of popular culture main topic
- Decades of 20s, 40s, and 60s as the three separate sub topics—paper, PowerPoint, and multimedia presentation
3) This topic, sub topics and activities must be approved by Ms. Palmer before you proceed with your project.
4) You will complete the contract below, have it signed by your parents, attach your outline and submit to me by January 14, 2008. I will file a copy with your counselor. This completed contract will be valued at 100 points.
5) You will be required to turn in one activity, valued at 200 points, to coincide with each six week grading period. The dates for second semester are:
- 1st 6 weeks- - due no later than Tuesday, February 12, 2008
- 2nd 6 weeks- - due no later than Tuesday, April 8, 2008
- 3rd 6 week- -due no later than Tuesday, May 21, 2008
6) Late projects will not be accepted and a grade of 0 (ZERO) points will be awarded.
Note: if you are receive an exemption from first semester finals through your 2005 CATS scores, you are also eligible to choose an exemption from you final project in independent study.
7) Unless you have received parental consent you will be required to remain on campus in room 406 unless otherwise instructed. Hall passes will be strictly limited.
8) Grades will be received in the following manner
- Proposal and Contract- - 100 points for 10% of your grade
- 1st 6 weeks project - - 200 points
- 2nd 6 weeks project - - 200 points
- 3rd 6 weeks project - - 200 points
- Final Project- 200 points x2 for 10% of your grade
