ACE Community Service
As you know, in order to receive the ACE diploma at Tates Creek High School, you must enroll in and complete the requirements for ACE Community Service during your senior year. You will be assigned to the class during a block that fits within your individual schedule.
Expectations
1) You will report to room 406 during your scheduled time period for attendance purposes.
2) You will remain in room for the entire class period unless you
A) have a permission slip signed by your parent or guardian giving you permission to leave campus to perform community service during the school day
B) have a written request by another teacher dismissing you from my room to another location for legitimate purposes.
Requirements
For the class, you will be required to perform a total of 40 hours of community service per semester- -10 hours by the end of first 6 weeks; 20 hours by the end of the second 6 weeks ; and 10 hours by the end of the last semester.
All hours must be documented on the attached sheets and signed by the adult "in charge" or no credit for the hours will be given. Click here for verification forms
All hours must be accompanied by a reflective journal.
1st 6 weeks due no later than Tuesday, September 23
2nd 6 weeks due no later than Thursday, November 6
3rd 6 weeks due no later than Friday, December 19
For our purposes, community service is defined as time you spend with a non-profit organization for which you do not receive payment or class credit. For example, tutoring your little sister in math at home in the evenings is not an approved community service activity. Tutoring freshman in after school is.
