KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival

What: Solo and Ensemble Festival is a chance for you to play
a solo or perform in an ensemble for a judge who will give
you a rating of Novice, Apprentice, Proficient, or Distinguished.

Who: Anyone! Anyone can play a solo or form small
ensembles such as duets, trios, quartets, and more.

When: The festival date is November 22, 2008, which is
a Saturday. You will be assigned a specific time closer to
the date. You will probably spend less than 30 minutes at
the festival so it will not take all day.

Where: The festival is held at SCAPA Bluegrass, which is
located right behind Lafayette High School.

Why: Performing solos or in small groups allows you to
play different pieces. Judges will make comments specifically
to you about how you can improve your playing!

Cost: If you would like to play a solo, the cost is $5.00.
Any ensemble (2-16 players) will cost $8.00. Please return
money with the attached form.

Deadline: If you would like to perform something for the
KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival, please fill out the attached
form and return it to Mrs. Mayes by Friday, October 3^rd.

Extra Help: Mr. Hiner and Mrs. Mayes are available to stay
after school to help you prepare your solo or ensemble. We
will be available on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45 from
October 8-November 19. YOU MUST SIGN UP IN
ORDER TO STAY AFTER SCHOOL!

***LTMS has lots of music to choose from and you can choose your
own piece. You can even form your own groups! Anyone who performs
in the solo and ensemble festival will receive extra credit!***
