Kentucky History

                                  Before  The Civil War

by Casey

Do you know the first recorded person who came to Kentucky? Did you know that in September of 1773 the first settlement was made in Kentucky? Well, if you want to know more about Kentucky before the Civil War you have come to the right place. In about 1784 some people wanted Kentucky to be a part of Virginia and some wanted it to be its own state . In 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state. Stephen Foster wrote  "My Old Kentucky Home."  I found the words to our state song. Click here to see them. Before 1792 people thought the word "Kentucky" meant "dark and bloody ground" but in 1792 the people changed the meaning. The first Kentuckians that came to Kentucky were the Native Americans. Click here for more information about Native Americans in Kentucky. Do you know who Daniel Boone was, and what he did?  If you want to find out, click here to get the information you need.

This is a picture of Daniel Boone and some settlers who came though the Cumberland Gap. Daniel Boone was a hunter and the founder of Fort Boonesborough, the first big settlement in Kentucky records.

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you have learned something.
