Kentucky is known for its music. Of course Kentucky is more than just bluegrass music. Lots of famous people were born here. Included is country singer Loretta Lynn, and Rosemary Clooney (shown above)

Bill Monroe  was also born in Kentucky. He created bluegrass music. He described it as "A combination of jazz, traditional mountain fiddle music and church music."

Loretta Lynn has several gold albums, which one gets for selling one million copies of an album. She has been awarded a Grammy award and named entertainer of the decade. (1970's)

Jean Bell Thomas was known as the "traipsing woman" because she often traveled through Appalachia on foot. She also founded the American Folk Song Festival.
