BAND
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
The following is a guideline to a successful band
rehearsal. They incorporate our band room rules and violation of these
rules will result in a consequence. The actions of each member of the
band program affect the overall performance level and image of the band
in both the school and the community. All actions have consequences and
these procedures help insure the positive consequence of the fine band
performance and individual student success. All school-wide rules
will be followed and enforced in the band classroom and class room
consequences reflect the Three Level Discipline System.
- Enter the band room or performance area using
voice level 2, get all required materials and take your assigned
seat prior to the tardy bell. (Students will be considered tardy if
they are not in their seats by the proper designated time).
- Check the side chalkboard for the daily agenda
and make sure you have all necessary materials (including a pencil)
and all method books and sheet music are in rehearsal order.
- Voice level 0 during rehearsal. Look at the
director when he/she is talking. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THE FIRST TIME
THEY ARE GIVEN!
- Play only when directed to during rehearsal.
Individual practice is to be done at home.
- No backpacks are allowed in the band room.
All books and materials not needed for rehearsal are to be stored
under your seat.
- Please take care of all band room equipment.
Music stands are for music only and are not to be leaned on, marked
on or abused in any way. Be sure to store music and instruments
properly after class.
- Please do not move chairs without
permission. The band room chairs are placed in the appropriate
place by the conductor before class and need to remain in place for
rehearsal.
- NO GUM, FOOD, CANDY OR DRINKS ARE PERMITTED
IN THE BAND ROOM, PRACTICE ROOMS OR DURING ANY REHEARSALS OR
PERFORMANCES.
CONSEQUENCES
- Warning and conference with student - parent
notification.
- Class time out, completed “Time Out sheet” –
parent notification.
- Time out in another teacher’s room – “Time Out
sheet”
- Silent Lunch detention and/or Team Detention
after school – parent notification.
- Office Referral/Administrative Action
Please note that all of
these steps can occur in one class period if the student does not comply
with the teacher request in a polite manner that causes no more class
disruption.
