BAND CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

The following is a guideline to a successful band rehearsal.  They incorporate our band room rules and violation of these rules will result in a consequence.  The actions of each member of the band program affect the overall performance level and image of the band in both the school and the community.  All actions have consequences and these procedures help insure the positive consequence of the fine band performance and individual student success.  All school-wide rules will be followed and enforced in the band classroom and class room consequences reflect the Three Level Discipline System.

  1. Enter the band room or performance area using voice level 2, get all required materials and take your assigned seat prior to the tardy bell. (Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their seats by the proper designated time).
  2. Check the side chalkboard for the daily agenda and make sure you have all necessary materials (including a pencil) and all method books and sheet music are in rehearsal order.
  3. Voice level 0 during rehearsal.  Look at the director when he/she is talking. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THE FIRST TIME THEY ARE GIVEN!
  4. Play only when directed to during rehearsal.  Individual practice is to be done at home.
  5. No backpacks are allowed in the band room.  All books and materials not needed for rehearsal are to be stored under your seat.
  6. Please take care of all band room equipment.  Music stands are for music only and are not to be leaned on, marked on or abused in any way.  Be sure to store music and instruments properly after class.
  7.  Please do not move chairs without permission.  The band room chairs are placed in the appropriate place by the conductor before class and need to remain in place for rehearsal.
  8. NO GUM, FOOD, CANDY OR DRINKS ARE PERMITTED IN THE BAND ROOM, PRACTICE ROOMS OR DURING ANY REHEARSALS OR PERFORMANCES.
