            We are off to a great start in our first week of school!  We are still busy learning about school and class rules and procedures, as well as getting to know one another.

            Thank you so much for promptly sending in your child’s school supplies.  I also really appreciate the many surveys and forms I have received.  Your support and generosity will enable us to plan for some really exciting projects.  Thank you again.

            We have been attending special area classes this week.  In order to prepare your child for school, you may want to help your child become familiar with the special class rotation schedule.  Dixie operates on a 6 day rotation.  On Wednesday, August 15, we will be on Day 3 of the rotation.  It may be helpful for you to write the numbers of the special days on a calendar in order to help your child to remember such things as tennis shoes on gym day, and to return library books on library days.  Should we not have school, such as on Friday, we will be on the very next rotation day on the next day of school.  The following is the list of our special classes and the names of the teachers.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Your child is bringing home a Daily Take-Home Folder.  This folder is used to help your child organize and transport school notes and homework assignments to and from school.  Please make it a habit to check the folder each night and then immediately return the folder to the backpack.

If your child’s transportation from school will be different on any day, please remember to send a note with your child.
