Text Box: Take-Home Folders
As you have already noticed, Take-Home Folders have been coming home daily. These folders are to be turned back into school each morning. Inside this folder, you will find papers that you will need to read over and your child’s homework will also be in there. The 2-sided pocket folder is labeled as “Keep at Home” and “Homework.” All papers that are on the “Keep at Home” side are for the parents to view and remove from the child’s homework folder. Please take time to clean out your child’s Take-Home Folder regularly. This will ensure you receive the school information in a timely manner. Homework will typically be sent home on Friday’s in the Take-Home Folder and the homework will be due the following Friday. Please look for your child’s first homework packet on Monday, August 17th!

Text Box: First Week of School!!
This week of school has been AMAZING! I want to take this time to compliment the students I’ve been blessed with this year. They have been wonderful these first few days! The students have handled the transition back to school with ease. They all seem very eager to get started on schoolwork. With the hard work they have already displayed, I’m sure we will have a very successful year. We have discussed many rules and procedures, so I’m sure the students have a lot of information about our classroom they want to share.

Text Box: Scholastic News/Agenda
We are still collecting money for Scholastic News and the Agenda. These two purchases will benefit your child in many ways throughout the year. The Scholastic News is a kid-friendly news article that teaches the students about events happening in the world. We will use these articles for in-class reading assignments. The Agenda will be used as a way for us to communicate with each other. The prices for these items are: Scholastic News: $5.00 and Agenda: $2.00. Please make your check payable to Dixie Elementary.
Behavior Plan
This year, I have decided to have an “I was busted” basket. Most of the time, students think if they get busted, then they were doing something wrong. However, I’ve decided to change that thought this year with my students. We are going to have a “BUSTED BASKET.” If the students are busted doing something good during the school day, I’ll tell the students they’ve been busted and tell them to write their name on a “BUSTED” ticket. They will place the “BUSTED” ticket with their name on it into the “BUSTED BASKET.” Each Friday, I will draw out 3-5 names to win prizes from either the Treasure Chest or the Candy Chest. The more “BUSTED” tickets your child receives during the week, the more chances they can win something on Fridays. Your child may win multiple times during our drawings. This is not to punish any of the students, but to provoke good behavior throughout the year.
