 Busy Bees in F-3

This is a short week, but we have been so busy!  The week has just flown by for me.  I continue to enjoy your children.  They are so creative, helpful, funny, and smart.  My husband looks forward to hearing all about them every day.  J

Mr. Gray and I have decided to give everyone a good three-day weekend.  I want you to enjoy your time with your child.  For that reason, we are not sending out homework.  We are also not sending home agendas with the spelling words today.  Tomorrow, we will be meeting together to discuss each child’s growth as a reader.  We will then see if we need to re-group any children for their reading groups.  Therefore, because some children will change groups, we did not want to send home the wrong spelling words.  I do hope you understand, and please enjoy this long weekend!

Important News for Parents and Guardians

** There will be no school tomorrow - Friday, September 28th.

** The magnet window has opened for Fayette County.  Magnet applications will be accepted on-line from September 1- October 15.  Siblings of Dixie magnet students must apply.

**  We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time!  Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 10:45.  Lunch is $3.25 for adults.   Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie.

What We Studied This Week

I think it is imperative that you get to know what we’ve been doing in our classrooms this week.  Please ask your child to give you more information.

Language Arts – We have been learning about the theme and plot of stories.  Again, this is an introduction to this topic, so don’t expect your child to master this yet!

Math – This week we have been continuing to work on our addition and subtraction facts.  We have also been working on number patterns.

Science – We are continuing to study habitats and food chains.  This week, we focused on the polar regions and oceans.
