Treasures in Mrs. Fields’ class Well, it has been another fabulous week in my classroom! I know I have said this before, but it is truly a joy to teach this particular group of children. They are all so unique, creative, and funny. They make me light up in the mornings and throughout the day. Thank you for all that you do as well. I appreciate your help with homework and agendas. Things are running smoothly now. I did have a couple of questions about math homework. We have been leaving the math homework in the folders until Friday, when they are due. This makes it easier to check and grade them. Also, I will be sending Arts-to-Go bags home with three different children each Friday. These will be due on Thursdays. If you need anything, never hesitate to call, write, or e-mail me. Also, I have an extremely busy schedule right now, so if I do not get back with you within a day or so, please just contact me again. I am taking a class at Georgetown College, and I am on several committees. On top of that, I am a newlywed, so things are rather hectic for me. However, you and your child are a priority for me and what you need is important to me. I do give all of you my cell phone if you need to get in touch with me, so use it if you need it! Coats and JacketsMany of you have probably heard your child talk about the “no coat or jacket” policy in F-Complex. This is actually a school-wide rule. I know it is chilly in our complex, but I cannot allow children to wear jackets or coats during instructional times. Of course, they are allowed to wear them to school and outside, but not during class. They are welcome to bring a sweater or sweatshirt that does not have a zipper or hood if they do get cold easily. Thank you so much for your help in this matter.Field Trip!!!Our first field trip will be Wednesday, October 31st. We will be going to the Salato Wildlife Center (my family used to call it the Game Farm) in Frankfort. I do not know prices yet, but I wanted to let you know so hopefully, you can take off work. We will be leaving at around 9:00 and returning by 1:30. I would absolutely love it if you could come with us. The more parents, the more fun it will be! Please contact me if you would like to come. Permission slips will come soon.Basket Items, Sticker Store, Candy, and Treasure ChestWell, here I go begging again! Our PTA is having a fundraiser. My basket’s theme is “Puzzle Time.” I only have a few items for the basket, so anything you can donate would be wonderful. Also, we need gently-used toys for sticker store and my treasure chest. (I spent $50 at Wal-Mart the other day, and it barely filled the treasure chest!) If you have any old toys that you do not want any more, please send them my way. Also, candy and stickers are ALWAYS needed in my classroom. Again, thanks so much!Important News for Parents and Guardians**If your child is ill and has to miss school, please do not forget to send in a note. Thanks so much! ** Open House will be next Thursday, October 11th. We will be meeting in F-Complex from 6:00 until 7:00. We will be starting our program PROMPTLY at 6:00, so be sure to be there if you can! ** We have no school October 18th and 19th. Enjoy your time with your child! ** The magnet window has opened for Fayette County. Magnet applications will be accepted on-line from September 1- October 15. Siblings of Dixie magnet students must apply. ** We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time! Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 10:45. Lunch is $3.25 for adults. Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie.
What We Studied This Week I think it is imperative that you get to know what we’ve been doing in our classrooms this week. Please ask your child to give you more information. Language Arts – We have been learning about sequence in stories. We have been reading stories and putting them in order. Math – This week we have been working on our addition and subtraction facts. We have also been working on number patterns. Science – We finished our unit on biological science (life cycles, classification, etc.), and now we have begun studying habitats and food chains.
Weekly Treasures Each week, I will be showcasing two students who have been real treasures in the classroom. ** Caleb W. is a very hard worker! He is very kind to his friends and helps them with any problem they might have. ** Katlyn is a good leader! She is also a hard worker, and a good friend. She also always helps her teacher.
