Very Busy Weeks for Everyone… Oh my goodness! The past few weeks have been extremely busy. I am sure all of you understand – you are very busy people as well. J I am so sorry I haven’t gotten out my newsletter in the past couple of weeks. ConferencesThis is my favorite time of the year! I simply love getting to sit down and talk with every one of you. It was such a pleasure to get to know each of you a little better. I hope you enjoyed yourselves!AgendasOkay, I think we have finally got a plan, and we’re sticking to it! Mr. Gray and I ran out of copies really early this past month. Because of that, we have been trying to cut corners as well as we can. We decided that it is good for the children to actually write their homework and their spelling words in the agendas themselves. Please bear with us as we work out the kinks!Mystery ReaderStarting Monday, we will be having a Mystery Reader in my and Mr. Gray’s rooms. I want to have parents, grandparents, community members, anybody we can think of. If you would like to participate or if you know someone else who could come, please contact me. I am willing to work around anyone’s schedule. I hope this will be an enjoyable activity for the children! Ask them Monday who visited their classroom! JBasket Items, Sticker Store, Candy, and Treasure ChestI want to thank all of you who contributed to the basket this year! It was a big success. Many of you have also been sending in items for the sticker store and treasure chest. This is such a big help to us! If you have any old toys that you do not want any more, please send them my way. Also, candy and stickers are ALWAYS needed in my classroom. Again, thanks so much!Important News for Parents and Guardians**If your child is ill and has to miss school, please do not forget to send in a note. Thanks so much! ** We have no school November 21st-23rd for Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with your child! ** We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time! Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 10:45. Lunch is $3.25 for adults. Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie.
What We Studied This Week I think it is imperative that you get to know what we’ve been doing in our classrooms this week. Please ask your child to give you more information. Language Arts – We are continuing to learn about the story elements – characters, setting, plot, and conclusion. Math – This week we have worked on addition strategies. Social Studies – We have been studying Native Americans, specifically the Cherokee, Iroquois, and Sioux tribes.
Weekly Treasures Each week, I will be showcasing two students who have been real treasures in the classroom. ** Mark has been SUCH a treasure in our classroom! He is sweet, kind, and very hard working. ** Lucila’s smile brightens everyone’s day! She is a true treasure!
