A New School Year

Well, I can’t believe it’s already time for school, but it has been such a pleasant beginning!  My students are so sweet and eager to learn.  I think it’s going to be a wonderful year!  I believe they’re going to make it hard on me to take my maternity leave.  I won’t want to leave them!  J  I believe I got to share with most of you that I am due with my first child – a girl – on September 21st.  I would like to take a couple of months with her, but I will return by January, possibly earlier.  I am delighted to have Mrs. Crabbe as my substitute.  She is a retired teacher, and she has done long-term sub positions a lot.  I know the children will love her!  I do want you to know that I will still be checking my e-mail regularly, so feel free to contact me if needed.  J

Agendas and Scholastic News

Thank you so much for sending in your $2 for agendas and $5 for Scholastic News.  I will be sending home agendas with the children starting Monday.  Every day, we will be writing in our agendas, taking them home, and then bringing them back in the morning.

Homework

Normally, I send homework every Friday.  It will be due on the next Friday.  Since this is the first week, I will be sending homework this Monday, and it will be due on Thursday.

Cupcakes and Other Goodies

We have been asked to remind parents about cupcakes and other goodies.  First, cupcakes should be store-bought only.  I know I dearly love homemade, but our policy states that we will only serve store-bought goodies to the children.  Secondly, we are asking that cupcakes do not have ANY plastic “picks,” “rings,” or other plastic decorations on them.  If you would like to bring cupcakes for your child’s birthday, I have 22 children in my classroom.

Important News for Parents and Guardians

** There will be no school for kids on August 21st.

** We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time!  Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 11:05.  Lunch is $3.50 for adults.   Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie.

Student Star of the Week

** Payton has been working very hard, and she is so helpful!
