 Busy Weeks…

I hope everyone had a great three-day weekend!  Mine was very relaxing.  It’s always nice to have an extra day to sleep a little, isn’t it?  This week has been very good with the children.  I honestly love working with them.  They are all a joy to have!

Homework and Agendas

Whew!  Thanks for being so patient with the agendas.  This is Dixie’s first year with them, so we’re trying to work out the kinks.  Believe me, if you feel confused, you’re not the only one!  I’m right there with ya!  J

As of right now, we will be stapling the language arts homework into the agenda, and your child will be writing his/her spelling words into their agendas.  Math homework will be sent home Fridays in packet form and will be due the following Friday.  I hope this will help you out a little with homework.  I know how busy all of you are!

PTA and Innisbrook

Our PTA does so much for Dixie.  Please join the PTA for only $3.50. Also, your child should have brought home Innisbrook orders.  Not only can your child win prizes for selling the products, but the PTA earns quite a bit of money from these orders.  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Other Important News for Parents and Guardians

**  We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time!  Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 10:45.  Lunch is $3.25 for adults.   Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie.

** There will be no school Friday, September 28th.

What We Studied This Week

I think it is imperative that you get to know what we’ve been doing in our classrooms this week.  Please ask your child to give you more information.

Language Arts – We have been learning about differentiating between facts and opinions.  This is something we will be studying about more later in the year, so don’t feel too stressed if your child hasn’t mastered this yet!

Math – This week we wrote our own number stories (which is the new fancy term for “word problems) and practiced our addition facts.  I would love to have each child working on addition facts at home.  If you need any addition fact cards, I have some extra.  Just let me know what you need!

Science – We are still working on living things.  Next week, we will focus on classifying living things.

Weekly Treasures

Each week, I will be showcasing two students who have been real treasures in the classroom.

**Taidje is working so hard in my class!  He always has a smile, and he does everything right away.

**Courtney is also a very hard worker!  She never complains, and ALWAYS does her best.
