 Learning a Bunch in F-3

This has been a very busy week in F-Complex!  We had a Learning Check on Tuesday and Wednesday.  This is a district-wide test in math and language arts.  It is a very good way for the kids to get prepared for next year.  Naturally, I also like it as an assessment for me to see how my little ones are doing!

We also had Parent Day in Art this week.  I loved seeing all of you show up.  That was so special for your child.  I am sorry I did not stop in, but I felt like it was Mrs. Confer’s class, and I did not want to interrupt.  J  I hope each of you who could come had a good time.  I thought the artwork was amazing!

Picture Day was on Thursday, and this was my best class so far to do the pictures.  It can be a very noisy, crazy day, but my students were extremely well-behaved in the library. I am sure their pictures are going to be just adorable.

I want to thank you PTA members who gave us teachers the “Grazing Day” on Wednesday.  We had more than enough food to stuff ourselves!  That was so sweet of you to think of us.  I honestly believe Dixie has the best parents!

What We Studied This Week

I think it is imperative that you get to know what we’ve been doing in our classrooms this week.  Please ask your child to give you more information.

Language Arts – We have been learning about sequence in stories.  We have been reading stories and putting them in order.

Math – This week we have been working on our addition and subtraction facts.  We have also been working on number patterns.

Science – We finished our unit on biological science (life cycles, classification, etc.), and now we have begun studying habitats and food chains.

Weekly Treasures

Each week, I will be showcasing two students who have been real treasures in the classroom.

**Ashlyn always has a smile on her face!  She is kind to her friends and is does her very best on every lesson in class.

** Nathaniel is such a joy to have in my class!  He works very hard, and is an extremely good role model.
