My Treasures in F-3 This has been a great start to our new year! I am continually impressed by the things my students can do. They are all truly a joy to have. I know my husband looks forward to hearing all of my stories at the end of the day. J Our first week of school is always a time for us to practice the rules and procedures of the classroom. In the second week, we take what we have learned about rules and procedures and apply this to our regular schedule. My students have done a good job adjusting to the daily routine. We began our small reading groups, centers, and daily writing class this week. The children were also introduced to sticks this week. I really don’t pull many sticks in my class for behavior, so hopefully, you will not be hearing about those! HomeworkWe began homework this week. Because we did not begin reading groups until Wednesday, your child has been getting just worksheets for homework in language arts. This will change on Monday. Your child will receive a packet with a sheet on top. Please sign this sheet every night and write the title of the book your child reads. As for math, I have been sending home time and money worksheets for homework. I had meant these as review; however it has been brought to my attention that these sheets have been rather difficult. Just have your child do what he/she can do. We will be working on these concepts throughout the year. For some reason, the Everyday Math program does not start homework for the first ten lessons. When we begin this homework, it does correspond to the lesson we learn that particular day so it should be easier.Scholastic News and AgendasThanks so much to those of you who have sent in the $5.00 for the Scholastic News and the $2.00 for the agendas. We will begin using the agendas very soon, and hopefully, our Scholastic News will arrive by the end of the month.PTA and InnisbrookOur PTA does so much for Dixie. Please join the PTA for only $3.50. Also, your child should have brought home Innisbrook orders. Not only can your child win prizes for selling the products, but the PTA earns quite a bit of money from these orders. If you have any questions, please contact me.Other Important News for Parents and Guardians** We love to see parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians at lunch time! Please feel free to come and eat with your child at 10:45. Lunch is $3.25 for adults. Please take note that it is school policy that no outside food from restaurants (like McDonald’s) is allowed at Dixie. ** There will be no school Monday, September 3rd for Labor Day. ** My webpage has changed in the last week! We decided to do one webpage for the whole complex. You can find e-mail addresses for every teacher, schedules, the school calendar, and other important information. I have included our address below.
Weekly Treasures Each week, I will be showcasing two students who have been real treasures in the classroom.
