Homework and Grades

 Homework

Homework will be assigned on a daily basis.  You can expect to see math and spelling assignments each night and other subjects at various times. Your child is also expected to read a book of their choice each day and complete a reading log entry each week. Homework assignments are due the next day unless specified by the teacher. Students will record homework in their agenda each day.  Parents should check their student’s agenda each night and sign the appropriate space confirming that the homework has been completed.  Agendas will also serve as a communication tool for parents and teachers to correspond any concerns or questions.  Student agendas will be checked periodically.  Those filled out completely with assignments and signatures properly recorded will be awarded with stickers which can be utilized in the complex store at the end of each month.

 Missing Homework

If a student comes to school without his or her homework, he or she will pull a sticker.  He or she will also fill out the HELP! Form to take home as a reminder to both the student and parents to complete the work.  The student can bring in the missing homework the next day without further consequences.  If the work is not completed and returned, the student will stay after school for the 3-D program.  This after-school program lasts until 3:30, and parents will need to make arrangements for the student to get home.  If missing homework happens frequently, the student will participate in structured recess rather than choosing their activity. Grade deductions may also occur depending on the number of missing assignments.

Grades

Report cards will be sent home every nine weeks.

● Mid-term reports will be sent home half-way through the nine week period to give you a brief overview of how your child is doing. This is a good time to make changes in study habits, if necessary.

● Citizenship Reports will be given out with report cards every nine weeks.  This report tells you about the work ethic, attitude, and social interactions that your student displays at school.
