A Peek At The Months                                                  May 6, 2008

   Can you  believe that the last month is here?  We are happy to say that we have completed all of our end of the year assessments for Language.  We have to test on our last two units for math. May has many exciting things in store. Please check the calendar for upcoming events.   In Math, We will be testing our money skills, addition and subtraction skills, number comparisons, etc.  Please help your child review over these concepts at home.  A study guide will be coming home this week.   In Reading,  We are reviewing short and long vowel words.   We have been focusing on Poetry and Fairytales.  We will continue to practice writing stories with sentences that include spaces, appropriate punctuation, and sight word practice.   Please encourage your child to do their best handwriting at all times.  Please continue to record reading each night on your reading logs to reach your child’s goal of 20 books per month.  In Science/Soc. Studies, we have studied Life Cycles of animals and insects, Healthy bodies, Recycling, Nutrition, and the season of Spring.

Important Reminders!

·  Overdue Library Books must be returned or paid for by the end of the grading period. Call Ms. Ross if you need to know the price of a missing book.

· Please send in an excuse note for every absence or tardy.

· Please dress your child in weather appropriate clothing.  We have recess at 12:30 so at times it is still chilly when we go out.

• Dixie will begin painting the entire school beginning June 2nd.  If you start to see bare walls a little early, it is because we are preparing for the painters.

• Please be sure to continue to send the take home folder and backpacks to school.  Many things will begin to come home for you to keep. 

• Picture orders are due Friday (May 9th). By Friday, please send in the money to pay for the pictures you would like to keep AND/OR return the pictures you would not like to keep.

• Watch for details on our Complex "End of the Year" Program on the last day of school.

Thanks to…. The parents who are sending in store items for our class store.  The store has been a big hit and everyone is working so hard to earn their pennies.  Thanks to all of the parent volunteers who have given us your valuable time throughout the year!!  We have the best parents!
