Final Concert

June 2, 2009

7:00 p.m.

Dear Morton Family and Friends,

My time has come to say goodbye to my Morton Family.  It has been an amazing journey.  I have had 24 wonderful years at Morton Middle School.  It’s been a joy to have a career that allows me to do what I love.  I absolutely love teaching.  I really had a vision for this program and I feel very proud of the band program that I’ve built.   The reason for our success has always been teaching at this amazing school with wonderful students, parents and staff.  This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life.  However, after 29 total years of teaching, it is the right time for me to leave.  I am not totally retiring, but am simply trying to ease the work and stress load.  Next year I will be the assistant director at Southern Middle School.   If all goes well, I will continue to teach for a while and I hope to retire at age 55 (and no I’m not telling how many more years that will be)!  So, the final concert will truly be a celebration of our outstanding year(s) and to say goodbye to our 8th grade class and to me.  It’s going to be a special night.  I hope you won’t miss it!

Fondly,

Debbie Shelton
