Reading Goal requirements—2009-10

• All students are required to read TWO books per grading period. 
• The books must be pre-approved by the teacher.
• Students are also required to read particular GENRES each grading period. 

• When finished with a book, students may do a BOOK SHEET or take an AR TEST. 
• Independent reading accounts for FIFTEEN percent of the overall Language Arts grade.

Quarter 1 (August 12-October 14)

Realistic Fiction

Quarter 2: (October 15-December 18)

            Adventure or Mystery

2^nd book due: December 16

Quarter 3: (January 4-March 12)

            Historical fiction or non-fiction

Quarter 4:  (March 13-May 26)

            Science fiction or fantasy

*No late reading goals will be accepted.  If you are absent on the day a reading goal is due, you are required to turn in your reading goal upon return to school.

*Any extra credit work is also due on the above due dates.

*Book due dates are as of August 26, 2009.  They may be subject to change if snow days accumulate.   Please always check with your language arts teacher for final dates.
