Q: How many miles do we run each practice?
A: The distances you run depend specifically on what
events you compete in; however on general conditioning days we run anywhere
from two to four miles a day.
Q. What if I can't run that far?
A: The most important part of track is that you always do your best. Because
this is a beginning level many athletes may struggle to start out; but those
that stick with it will soon be able to run farther, faster than ever
before.
Q: What if I play other sports in the spring?
A: We have many athletes that play other sports while training and competing
in track. If we can we will work out a schedule that works so you can
train and compete; ask us before you decide not to join. Most
of the time being in track shape can help you in other sports.
Q. How much does it cost?
A: Track requires you to pay insurance to the school and purchase a uniform.
You can join up for as little as $29.50. If you have already paid
insurance in another sport it will only coast you about $7.00 for a
competition top.
Q. Where do we practice?
For the first time the middle school will not have a track facility for work
outs. This will make this season unique in that we will have to be
very creative in training and finding suitable places to run. We
already have measured an area right here on campus but whenever we can we
will be going to constitution park for workouts. Even track-less we
plan on putting together a very competitive team, you come ready to run and
we will take care of the rest.
Q: What are the events in track & field?
A: Select the "order of events" from forms above for a complete
listing of all the events offered.
Q: Do we run outside when it's cold out?
A: Because of the time of year weather changes quickly. All though we
always prefer to have warm, sunny days for practice and competition this is
not always the case; which is why it is important to come prepared for cool
and rainy conditions.
